Solar Power – Rift Valley Children’s Village

Rift Valley Children’s Village is a home to 94 children in northern Tanzania. While the home was largely off the grid, relying mostly on solar and wind for electricity, a diesel generator was needed to pump fresh water from their well. The annual cost for fuel was $9,600.

The World Orphan Fund, working with a company in Kenya, funded a $9,800 solar system that completely eliminated their need for diesel to pump water. That’s a one-year return on investment!
